AdventisMed Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Irma P. Rajagukguk-Magnaye performs her first Gentle Cesarian Section on September 20, 2017.

The process starts with the patient propped slightly to allow a view of birth though a clear plastic drape concealing the surgical incision.  A slow delivery of the baby allows time for its chest to be squeezed on the way out like in normal birth to clear the lungs of fluid.  Nurses place the newborn on the mother's chest after delivery for immedicate skin-to-skin contact and stays with her in the recovery room.  Patient's hands are not strapped down and the IV line is inserted in the non-dominant hand to allow the mother to hold the baby with the stronger one. Mothers may opt for less sedation after the surgery to care for their infant.
