Blood Transfusion medicine is the branch of medicine that is concerned with the transfusion of blood and blood components. The blood bank is the section of the clinical laboratory where medical technologist process and distribute blood products under the supervision of a medical director, often certified in pathology or transfusion medicine.

Get ready for your donation

Drink
Drink plenty of fluids on the day of your donation, except alcoholic beverages.

Eat
Include iron-rich foods in your diet, especially in the weeks before your donation.

Sleep
Have enough sleep on the day of your donation to avoid getting light-headed.

Wear something comfortable
Wear clothing with sleeves that can easily be rolled up above the elbow.
Donation Process

Registration
You will sign in and go over basic eligibility and donation information. You will read information about donating blood, and will be asked to show a donor card, driver's license, or other form(s) of ID.

Physical Exam
You will answer some question during a private and confidential interview about your health history and places you have traveled. We will give you a mini-physical check.

The Donation
You will take a seat and the actual donation takes about 8-10 mins. The process is safe and sterile. Our staff will be available if you any question. Certain donation types such as platelets, red cells or plasma, can take up to two hours.

Refreshment
You should have a snack after donating, You can leave the site after 10-15 minutes and continue with your normal daily activities. Enjoy the feeling of accomplishment knowing that you have helped save lives.
